A vacuum design with the motor, dust collection, and cleaning head all combined in one vertical assembly. The dominant residential format in the US.
Uprights are typically louder than canisters but offer better carpet performance. Easier to store (single unit) and simpler to operate. Hoover, Shark, Riccar, Simplicity, and Sebo Felix are upright examples.
