How to shop a vacuum

Pick the floor type. Hardwood plus area rugs runs canister with parquet head. Wall-to-wall carpet runs upright or upright-style canister. Mixed runs Miele Complete C3 or Sebo Felix.
Pick the household. Pets and allergens push toward sealed-system HEPA (Miele, Sebo, Riccar). Apartments push toward stick or compact canister.
Pick the budget. Sub-$200 lives in Shark and stick land. $400 to $800 is the Riccar, Sebo Felix, Simplicity sweet spot. Miele runs $500 entry to $1,500 top.
Try it. Bring a sample of your carpet or hardwood. We will run it.

If you are buying a vacuum that needs to last 15 to 20 years, the Miele HomeCare Collection extends the warranty to 5 years inclusive and 10 years on the motor and casing, with a $139 attachment bundle included.
