The rotating cylindrical bar with stiff bristles inside an upright or power head. Spins via belt or direct motor drive.

Brush rolls wear at the bristles (year 3 to 5) and the end-cap bearings (year 7 to 10). Hair wraps at the end caps are the most common failure mode across brands.
