Amperage

The electrical current the vacuum draws, measured in amperes. North American residential vacuums max out at 12 amps because most household circuits are 15-amp.

Amperage indirectly indicates motor power but does not directly correspond to suction. A well-engineered 10-amp motor can outperform a poorly-engineered 12-amp motor.
