Miele Cordless Runtime Is Too Short

Short runtime on a Miele cordless vacuum can come from battery age, power mode, clogged filters, brush load, or charging problems.

What the symptom usually looks like

The cordless vacuum charges but runs for much less time than expected, especially on carpet or high power.

Likely causes

• Battery aging
• High power mode used continuously
• Filter restriction increasing motor load
• Brush roll drag from hair or debris
• Partial charging due to charger/contact issue

Safe checks before you bring it in

1. Compare runtime on low power and high power.
2. Clean or replace filters according to the manual.
3. Remove debris from the brush roll.
4. Charge the battery fully and note how long it runs before stopping.
5. Let the battery cool before charging again.

Runtime complaints should be diagnosed under load. A battery can test acceptable by itself but fail faster when filters or the brush head add resistance.

If the vacuum is less than halfway through a normal Miele service life, repair is often the better financial choice. If the repair estimate approaches the cost of a new HomeCare model, we will say that plainly.

Yes. High power and motorized brush use draw more current. A large drop from normal behavior still deserves a battery and airflow check.
