What the symptom usually looks like
The brush roll stops, makes noise, or will not turn freely because of hair, string, rug fringe, or debris.
Likely causes
- Hair or thread wrapped around the brush
- Rug fringe pulled into the head
- Debris lodged at the brush end cap
- Bearing or end-cap wear
- Brush motor overload protection
Safe checks before you bring it in
- Turn the vacuum off and remove the battery if applicable.
- Cut hair and string away carefully without nicking the brush.
- Check both brush ends for packed debris.
- Let the head cool if it shut down under load.
- Do not force the brush if it remains locked.
What to bring to the shop
- Bring the floorhead, wand, power unit, and battery.
- Tell us whether it jammed on carpet, fringe, or hard-floor debris.

Repair or replace?
Simple hair wraps are maintenance. A brush that remains stiff after cleaning may need bearing, end-cap, or head diagnosis.
If the vacuum is less than halfway through a normal Miele service life, repair is often the better financial choice. If the repair estimate approaches the cost of a new HomeCare model, we will say that plainly.
