What the symptom usually looks like
The cordless vacuum will not charge, the charge lights do not behave normally, or runtime drops sharply after charging.
Likely causes
- Battery not fully seated
- Dirty or damaged charging contacts
- Charger or wall outlet issue
- Battery temperature outside the normal charging range
- Battery pack has reached end of useful life
- Control electronics issue
Safe checks before you bring it in
- Confirm the outlet works with another device.
- Remove and reseat the battery if your model allows it.
- Inspect charging contacts for dust or debris.
- Let the vacuum and battery return to room temperature.
- Try charging with the vacuum fully assembled and, if applicable, with the battery separate.
What to bring to the shop
- Bring the vacuum, battery, charger, wand, and floorhead.
- Bring any second battery you own so we can compare behavior.
- Tell us whether the issue is no charge, short runtime, or error lights.

Repair or replace?
Battery diagnosis is fastest when the charger and full vacuum come with it. A bad charger, weak battery, or contact issue can look similar from home.
If the vacuum is less than halfway through a normal Miele service life, repair is often the better financial choice. If the repair estimate approaches the cost of a new HomeCare model, we will say that plainly.
