Miele Powerhead Not Working
If a Miele electric powerhead will not spin, the issue may be debris, reset protection, wand contacts, hose wiring, switch position, or the powerhead motor.

What the symptom usually looks like
The canister has suction, but the electric carpet head does not spin or turns off during carpet cleaning.
Likely causes
- Hair, string, or debris wrapped around the brush roll
- Powerhead overload protection tripped
- Dirty or loose electrical contacts at the wand or hose
- Hose handle switch or wand connection issue
- Powerhead motor, belt, or internal wiring fault
Safe checks before you bring it in
- Unplug the vacuum before touching the brush roll.
- Remove visible hair and string from the brush area.
- Check that the wand, hose, and powerhead are fully seated.
- Look for a reset button or overload indicator on the powerhead.
- Test whether suction works without brush rotation.
What to bring to the shop
- Bring the canister, electric hose, wand, and powerhead together.
- Do not bring only the powerhead unless we already know the hose and wand are good.
- Tell us whether the brush never starts or stops after several minutes.

The powerhead depends on the canister, hose, wand, contacts, and head. Bench testing the full chain prevents replacing the wrong part.
If the vacuum is less than halfway through a normal Miele service life, repair is often the better financial choice. If the repair estimate approaches the cost of a new HomeCare model, we will say that plainly.
